ELNORA — Barbara “Bobbie” Hickey Sims Waggoner, 83, died at 1:10 a.m Saturday at her residence. Born Aug. 18, 1929, in Elnora, she was the daughter of Maurice and Laura (Morgan) Hickey. Educated at Indiana State Teacher’s College, she was a music teacher in area schools for more than 40 years. She was a member of Elnora United Methodist Church. She was also a devoted and active member of Eastern Star Newberry after the Elnora Chapter closed, serving as either organist or Worthy Matron for 25 years. She also served as Deputy of District 2. She organized and directed the Eta Chapter of Elnora Triad Inc. She also did genealogy research for the local cemeteries. She is survived by two stepdaughters, Diane (Jack) White of Loogootee, and Starlyn Sims of Houston, Texas; one stepson, Richard L. (Judy) Sims of Belton, Ky.; seven grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Sam Sims, and her second husband, Floyd Waggoner, as well as her parents. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Poindexter-McClure Funeral Home, Odon Chapel, with Rev. Debbie Payne officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
