ODON — Crystal Houghland, 95, died Tuesday at Kitridge Hospital. Born Feb. 7, 1917, in Ohio, she was the daughter of George and Lula L. (Diess) Hilgret. She had worked for the U.S. government at Naval Surface Warfare Center Crane for 50 years. She was a member of Harvest Community Church, where she was very active. She also wrote a column for the Loogootee Tribune. She is survived by two daughters, Doris J. Houghland and Bertina Houghland, both of Boulder, Colo.; grandchildren, Justin, Sumner and Chance Kragel and Heidi Teegarden; and four great-grandchildren. Her husband, Roy Houghland, is deceased. One sister, Ellen Marie Sherman, is also deceased. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Friday at Harvest Community Church, with Rev. Jeff Williams officiating. Visitation is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the church. Arrangements are being made through Poindexter-McClure Funeral Home.
