Donald Vickers

Nov. 6, 1934 - Aug. 23, 2012

LOOGOOTEE — Donald V. Vickers, 77, died at 4:30 a.m. Thursday at Jasper Memorial Hospital. Born Nov. 6, 1934, in Martin County, he was the son of Vicker and Ruth (Crays) Vickers. He was a truck driver for 35 years and worked at Clarmont Trucking, where he was a member of the Million Mile Club, and Jefferson Trucking. He was also a Methodist Church member. He is survived by his wife, Mary (Sims) Vickers, whom he married March 27, 1954; a son, Donald D. Vickers of Loogootee; daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Steve Glinis of St. Louis, Mich., Peggy and Donald Shea of Lowell, and Mary Jane and Martin Tarrh of Shoals; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Jean Stuckey of Evansville; and a brother, Eldon Vickers of Arizona. He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Louise Holt. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Poindexter-Hall and McClure Funeral Home, Odon Chapel, with Bro. Richard Smith officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery. Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
