LOOGOOTEE — Ralph “Sam” Samuel Truelove, 68, died at 1:05 a.m. Wednesday, November at home surrounded by his family. Sam was born on Dec. 19, 1943, in Loogootee, to Ralph C. and Susie (Summers) Truelove. He is a 1961 graduate of Loogootee High School and a lifelong member of the Loogootee United Methodist Church. He married Marie (Seitz) Truelove on May 22, 1976, combining their families and thus creating The Truelove Bunch. Throughout the years Sam had many vocations, beginning by driving trucks, farming and hauling lime with his father Ralph in Loogootee and surrounding areas. He then became a plumber and pipefitter (Plumber and Steamfitters Union Local No. 157) working all across the midwest. After that he returned to trucking, spending the next 20 years as an over-the-road truck driver, traveling across the U.S. In his “retirement” he and Marie were the owners/operators of Sunset Trailer Court, which was founded by his father in 1969 on the site of his family childhood farm. There are few things Sam enjoyed more than spending time working with Marie, traveling in their RV, visiting friends, and being at the Court. He is survived by his wife Marie; children, Charity (Adam) Karcz of Atlanta, Ga., Tina (Tim) Wilson of Loogootee, Ralph S. (Kristin) Truelove of Rochester, Mich., Corina (Phil) Hendershott of Greenwood, Sheila Reece of Newburgh, and Kim (Donald) Roufs of Las Vegas, Nev. He is also a proud grandfather to 16 grandchildren and two granddogs. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph in 2001 and Susie in 1995; and his sister, Wanda Eckstein in 1973. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Loogootee United Methodist Church in Loogootee. Burial will be in Truelove Cemetery, south of Loogootee. Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, at Brocksmith-Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Truelove United Methodist Church.

Born Sept. 30, 1935, in Daviess, she was the daughter of Arlan V. and Essie (Hardesty) Nolley. She graduated from Montgomery High School in 1953 and retired as a bookkeeper from McDonald Chevrolet in Washington after 43 years of service. -
