LOOGOOTEE — Mable M. Summers, 100, died at 4:07 a.m. Sunday at Loogootee Nursing Center. She was born Jan. 6, 1912, in Vicksburg, Ind. She was a member of Loogootee United Methodist Church and several years ago she had worked as a manager of the former Alco Dime Store in Loogootee. Mable enjoyed flowers, baking, cooking, watching birds and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by one daughter, Rosalie Abner of Indianapolis; one son, Robert Prather of Loogootee; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. Her husband, John T. Summers, whom she married June 16, 1968, died Dec. 26, 1992. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Loogootee United Methodist Church. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery in Loogootee. Visitation after 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Memorial donations may be made to Loogootee United Methodist Church.
