Bonnie Foltz

May 23, 1944 - July 27, 2012

SHELBYVILLE — Bonnie Jean (Colvin) Foltz, 68, passed away Friday after a battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Bonnie was born May 23, 1944, to James and Mary Colvin, in Washington. She had three younger brothers, Tom, Dan and Bill. After her mother’s death in 1953, Bonnie went to live with her aunt and uncle, Clyde and Marie (Colvin) Williams, in Indianapolis and was raised with her cousins Jim and Mike Williams. Bonnie graduated from Our Lady of Grace Catholic School in Beech Grove in 1962. She went on to obtain her cosmetology license and worked at LS Ayers Beauty Shoppe and Tea Room in downtown Indianapolis. On Feb. 20, 1966, she married Robert L. Foltz and helped him on the family farm in Valley Mills. They relocated the farm to Shelbyville in 1971 where they raised their three sons, John, Jason and Dan. Bonnie’s interest included gardening, cooking and square dancing. She had many artistic talents and enjoyed painting, flower arranging, jewelry making and other crafts. For several years, she also owned the Whistle Stop in Metamora where she sold many of her crafts. She was a longtime member of the Little Blue River Baptist Church and was active in its Ladies Aid. She was also a member of the Countryettes Home Ec. Club. She enjoyed spending her winters in Florida and sharing time with her family and friends, particularly her grandchildren, Jennah, Emily, Luke, Jack and Franklin Foltz. She is survived by her husband Bob, and sons Jason (wife Traci) and Dan (wife Jean), all of Shelbyville; daughter-in-law, Lora Foltz Howard of Arkansas; brothers, Tom Colvin of Illinois and Dan Colvin of Florida; cousins, Jim (wife Sally) Williams of Indianapolis and Mike (wife Maddy) Williams of Hope; aunt, Marie Williams of Indianapolis; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Bob and Nancy (Foltz) Adams of Harbor Springs, Mich.; and five grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; uncle, Clyde; brother, Bill; and son, John. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St., with Rev. Robert Langdon officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the John R.
