MONTGOMERY — Karen S. Burkhart, 56, passed away at 12:20 a.m. Monday at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes. Born Feb. 4, 1957, in Washington, she was the daughter of Wayne and Emma (Allen) Harder. A 1976 graduate of Barr-Reeve High School, she was a member of Bethany Christian Church. She was a school bus driver for Bus Corp. She enjoyed camping and playing cards and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Steve Burkhart, whom she married May 27, 1978; one daughter and son-in-law, Nadine and Chris Hudson of Washington; one son and daughter-in-law, Max and Starla Burkhart of Otwell; her mother, Emma Harder of Washington; two sisters, Wanda Clark of Bloomington and Debra Gladish of Montgomery; one brother, Jerrold Harder of Cannelburg; and eight grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her father. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Ed Lee Mortuary, with Bro. Matt Merold officiating. Burial will be in Bethany Cemetery.
