Patricia Sears

ODON — Patricia L. Sears, 77, died at 12:55 a.m. Sunday at Ketcham Memorial Center in Odon.

Born in Indianapolis on June 14, 1935, she was the daughter of George B. and Clesta L. (Ramsey) Hart.

Pat, or Patty, as she was known to close friends and relatives, enjoyed helping others. She was a member of the Odon Christian Church and enjoyed playing bells with the Saints with Seniority Joy Bells. She was also a former member of the Rebekah Lodge in Odon.

An avid bingo player, she served as a volunteer at Ketcham Memorial Center for many years, assisting the residents during bingo games and later enjoying the game again as a resident at KMC.

 A 1953 graduate of Epsom High School, Patty went on to work at Dearmin & Company in Odon. She became a stay-at-home mom after the birth of their second daughter and then babysat for many other local children over the years.

Patty is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law: Jeanette (Dwayne) Hostetter of Bloomfield, Janice (Kenny) Sanders of Odon, Kimberly (Mark) Wilz of Washington and Darla (Aaron) Witsman of Bloomington; nine grandchildren: Amanda (Rich) Parker, Bryan Sanders, Dustin Wilz, Alan Jordan (Ashley) Sims, Andrea Hostetter, Kristen Hostetter, Lauren Hostetter, Haley Witsman and Emily Witsman; and three great grandchildren: Kayleigh Parker, Kaden Parker and Kendall Sanders.

She married Harry L. “Bubby” Sears on Dec. 24, 1954, and he preceded her in death on July 5, 1995. She is also preceded in death by one granddaughter, Melisa ReneeÕ Sims on March 7, 2000; her parents; five brothers; and two sisters. She was the last of her immediate family.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Odon Christian Church with Richard Crabtree officiating.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until time of service Thursday.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Ketcham Memorial Center, 601 E. Race Street, Odon, Indiana.
