MONTGOMERY — Mamie Lilan Roach, 95, died at 7:45 p.m. Monday at Prairie Village. Born Jan. 18, 1918, in Brazil, she was the daughter of Henry and Margaret Ellen (Howald) Hofmann. A 1936 graduate of Sugar Ridge Township High School, she was a homemaker. Her greatest joy was watching her great-grandsons and visiting with her great-great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed piecing quilts, doing cross stitch and working crossword puzzles. After moving into Prairie Village she loved to play bingo and put together puzzles. She is survived by granddaughters, Keturah (Tom) Birt of Montgomery, Laquetta Roach of Cannelburg; great-grandsons, Aaron (Kelly) Birt, Matthew Birt, and Raygan Roach; great-great-grandchildren, Brooklyn and Benjamin Birt; and sister-in-law, Alice Hofmann. Her husband of 50 years, Roy I. Roach, whom she married Jan. 18, 1939, died in 1989. A son, Hershel Lee Roy Roach, died in 1985. Also preceding her in death are her parents and a brother, Lee Hofmann. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Gill Funeral Home, with Rev. Rex Thomas officiating.
