IRELAND, Ind. — Nancy L. (Wood) Long, 81, formerly of Petersburg, passed away in Jasper Sunday at Memorial Hospital Healthcare Center. She was born in Lawrenceville, Ill., June 1, 1931, to Douglas and Alene (Zehner) Wood. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Petersburg and was formerly affiliated with her local chapter of the Eastern Star. She served her family as a loving homemaker as well. Nancy is survived by six children, Debra Spencer and husband Kevin of Petersburg, Kevin Long and wife Joanne of Vernal, Utah, Joseph Long and wife Sara of Mt. Vernon, Elizabeth Walker and Tim of Washington, Sarah Byrne and husband Patrick of Ireland, and Cathie Whitney of Petersburg; 18 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Leanne Cook of Liverpool, N.Y. She is preceded in death by her parents and one son, Lawrence “Larry” Long. A graveside service for Nancy L. Long will be held Friday at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Petersburg at 2 p.m. There will be a visitation from 10 a.m. until noon at the Cunningham Funeral Home in Bridgeport, Ill. There will also be a Celebration of Life held in memory of Nancy in Petersburg Saturday, at Prides Creek Shelter House 2 beginning at 2 p.m.
