MARTINSVILLE — Donna Sue Whitaker, 74, passed from this life on Saturday at 11:44 a.m. at the IU Health Bloomington Hospital. She was born to the late Charles Edward and Stella Opal (McDonald) Chastain on May 17, 1938, in Dubois County. She graduated with the class of 1957 from Odon-Madison Twp. High School and a few years later married Robert Wayne Whitaker on February 8, 1961; he preceded her in death on April 9, 1999. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends including her two daughters, Lisa Cooksey (husband John) and Lori Holman, both of Martinsville; one sister, Diane Kay Long of Washington; grandchildren, John Michael, Ethan Wayne, Thomas Franklin and Kathryn Lynne Cooksey, Brittany Lynne, Jared Alan and Brandi Jo Holman; and one great grandson, Levi Reece Holman. Family and friends are welcome to visit on Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Neal and Summers Funeral and Cremation Center in Martinsville. A service celebrating her life will begin at 11 a.m on. Thursday at the funeral home and burial will follow in New South Park Cemetery in Martinsville.
