WASHINGTON — Patricia Ann (Trish) Miller of Washington was surrounded by the family she loved so much as she slipped into the arms of the Lord on Saturday. Trish was born in Hyannis Port, Mass., on Oct. 17, 1949, to Ralf and Lorena Saunders. She was a graduate of Hobart High School, Vincennes University and Indiana State University. At ISU she met and married the love of her life, husband, Robert Thomas (Tom) Miller on Aug. 29, 1970. Following graduation in 1972, they both taught at schools in Boonville until 1983 when they moved to Washington. Trish taught various grades at Veale, North and Lena Dunn elementary schools. In 2005, she retired from her career in education. Trish was so loved by her family, friends, co-workers and this community. She was a former member and president of Kappa Kappa Kappa Sorority. She attended Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church where she served as a lector. She was a very caring and compassionate person and had the most giving heart of any angel here on earth. Trish supported the Power House of Washington with food donations and by serving as a volunteer. She was also a participant in the Emmaus Community as a server, volunteer and donor. In retirement she enjoyed spending time with her loving family, grandchildren, friends and shopping. With her closest friends, she was a 30-year member of the Gourmet Club in Boonville, the Washington Birthday Club and the Monday Afternoon Club. Trish is survived by her husband Tom; son Brandon of Denver, Colo.; daughters Courtney (Jason) Streicher of Fishers and Whitney (Sean) Threewits of Indianapolis; grandchildren Zachary Miller of New Windsor, N. Y., Anna and Caleb Streicher of Fishers; sister Elaine (Mark) Haller of Hobart; mother-in-law Pauline Lucas of Washington; niece Heather (Ryan) Sanders of Indianapolis and nephew Scott (Lauren) Haller of Hobart. Her greatest legacy to us all was her strong faith in the Lord. Because of this faith she had courage, strength, perseverance, and the ability to overcome physical challenges. Over the past two years through her battle with acute myelogenous leukemia she had witnessed to all through her Caring Bridge website. Caring Bridge is a connection website that allowed everyone to know what was happening in Trish’s health event. It became much more than that...it became a means of inspiring all who read her journal entries. She was preceded in death by her parents Ralf Saunders, Al and Lorena Booten and brother Ralf Saunders. The visitation and funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Washington. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The funeral mass will be on Wednesday at 10 a.m. with Father Gordon Mann officiating. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Trish Miller Scholarship Fund, c/o Washington Community Schools, 301 East South St., Washington, IN 47501.
