WASHINGTON — Ralph D. Morgan, 80, of Washington, died at 3:09 p.m. Monday at Hillside Manor Nursing Home. Born Aug. 18, 1931, in Washington, he was the son of Ralph W. and Maude (Dayton) Morgan. A 1949 graduate of Washington High School, he was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was a former Daviess County Deputy Sheriff and former Daviess County Sheriff, a Deputy U.S. Marshal from 1971 to 1982 and a retired U.S. Marshal from 1982 to 1993. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 31, Hadi Shrine, Scottish Rite, Elks, Moose, 40 and 80 Club, American Legion and V.F.W. He enjoyed raising cattle, spending time with his family and being outdoors. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Dianna and Jody Williams of Washington; a son and daughter-in-law, Ronald W. and Mary Morgan of Washington; grandchildren, Kristi Williams, Ryan D. Morgan and Casey L. Morgan; a half brother, Woodrow Morgan of Arizona; and a half sister, Colleen. His wife, Betty L. (Petty) Morgan, whom he married Sept. 20, 1959, died Jan. 31, 2002. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Gill Chapel, with Rev. Gordon Mann and Bro. Steve Dayton officiating. Burial will be in Sugarland Memory Gardens Mausoleum, with military rites. Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, with a Masonic service at 7:30 p.m., and after 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Born Sept. 30, 1935, in Daviess, she was the daughter of Arlan V. and Essie (Hardesty) Nolley. She graduated from Montgomery High School in 1953 and retired as a bookkeeper from McDonald Chevrolet in Washington after 43 years of service. -
