WASHINGTON — Edward T. Williams, 88, of Washington, passed away at 8:40 p.m. Tuesday at Eastgate Manor. Born April 18, 1924, in Wheatland, he was the son of Sylvester and Elnora (Simpson) Williams. He served in the U.S. Army and retired from Vigo County Courthouse. He was a member of the Washington V.F.W. and Eagles. He also enjoyed spending time on the White River. He is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Philip (Judy) Williams of Terre Haute, and Richard (Carol) Williams of Georgetown, Ky.; one daughter, June Kelsheimer of Washington; one sister, Patty Joyce Williams of Washington; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. His first wife, Joyce (Sullivan) Williams, whom he married Jan. 9, 1943, died Dec. 19, 1989. His second wife, Betty Williams, died February 2008. One daughter, Charlotte Williams; one great-grandson; and 13 brothers and sisters are also deceased. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Ed Lee Mortuary. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, with military graveside rites conducted by the Washington American Legion and V.F.W. Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Vista Care Hospice.
