MONTGOMERY — Herschel Adams, 90, died at 12:40 p.m. Monday at the Waters of Martinsville in Martinsville. Born July 13, 1922, in Roland, Ky., he was the son of Edward and Jessie (Shanks) Adams. He married Mae Rose Allison on Aug. 23, 1941, and she preceded him in death. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II, and an ironworker with Ironworkers Local No. 22 of Indianapolis. Survivors include three daughters, Marlena Jordan of Mooresville, Connie McDonald of Birmingham, Ala., and Teresa Burkhardt and husband Larry of Edwardsville, Ill.; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; two brothers, Kenny Adams of Linton, and Jim Adams of South Carolina. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, five brothers, one sister and one great-great-granddaughter. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day and Carter Mortuary, with Rev. Kenneth Adams officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery where military rites will be accorded at the graveside by members of Gillen Post No. 33 American Legion. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the hour of service Thursday at the funeral home.
