WASHINGTON — Cora F. Bilskie, 75, of Washington and formerly of Vincennes, passed away at 4:40 a.m. Wednesday at Daviess Community Hospital, with her family at her bedside. She was born March 7, 1935, in Knox County, the daughter of Donald and Blanche Lane Pea. She attended St. Rose Academy and graduated from Decker High School. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, V.F.W Auxiliary, and a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary where she served as past president. She worked at the Vincennes Water Department for nearly 22 years. She was a contributor to various Catholic missions and she sponsored children through World Vision Charities, often times having two or three at the same time. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She is survived by her children, Rosemary Abel and her husband David of Washington, Brenda Bilskie of West Terre Haute, Ann E. Adams of Washington, and Nancy Pittman and her husband William of Elkhart; granddaughters, Andria Lunsford and Laura Abel; great grandchildren, Jakob Cibak and Nickolas Lunsford; and a sister, Betty Pea of Vincennes. A son, Michael R. Bilskie, her former husband, John R. Bilskie, her parents, two brothers, Ted Siewers and Robert Siewers, and two sisters, Dorothy Nowaskie and Alice Wheatley, preceded her in death. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 10 a.m., with Fr. Jason Gries officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her son in St. Vincent Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home where recitation of the rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to Christian Education Foundation or to Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
