HILO, Hawaii — Barbara Ann (Hopkins) Rusert, 53, passed away Aug. 6. She was born Dec. 9, 1958, in Daviess County, to Paul and Mary (Lundergan) Hopkins. She graduated from Barr-Reeve High School and Indiana University. She received and MBA degree in California, where she worked for many years. She was a loving mother to her three children, Lauren, Craig and Robbie. The last few months of her life, Barbara moved to Hawaii to be with her children. She is survived by her former husband, Robert Rusert; her three children; two sisters, Joan Kavanaugh of Phoeniz, Ariz., and Mary (John) Mirro of Crown Point; six brothers, James (Gayla) Hopkins of Washington, Michael (Karen) Hopkins of Loogootee, Patrick (Jane) Hopkins of Noblesville, Frank (Donna) Hopkins of Jasper, Larry (Lynn) Hopkins of Noblesville, and Edward (Carla) Hopkins of New Palestine. Many nieces, nephews and cousins are surviving. Preceding her in death are her parents. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Aug. 25, at St. Mary’s Chapel, Barr Township, Loogootee, with Rev. Effie officiating.
