Mary Alice Smith, 90, of Washington, died at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Washington Nursing Center.
Born Oct. 1, 1919, in Martin County, she was the daughter of Frank and Myrtle (Walls) Brown.
She attended St. John Catholic schools in Loogootee. She was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church and Knights of St. John.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Andrea and Gene Underhill of Washington; three sons and daughters-in-law, Lowell Raymond and Mary A. Smith, Ralph Louis and Mary E. Smith, and Alan Michael Smith, all of Washington; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Russell Smith, whom she married June 27, 1940, died July 5, 1997. One son, Clarke Thomas Smith, died June 13, 1987. Nine brothers and sisters are also deceased.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, with Rev. Kenneth Graehler as celebrant. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Ed Lee Mortuary.
