Don Harold Shake

SANDBORN — Don Harold Shake, 88, died Tuesday, at his residence in Sandborn. He was born in Knox County, on March 11, 1921, to Floyd and Zella (Lawyer) Shake. He married Dorothea R. Spanger on May 24, 1947.

He was a retired farmer and livestock trucker. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II with the 1365th Military Police Co. Aviation in the CBI Theater. Don was a member of Salem United Church of Christ, American Legion Post No. 192 and Knights of Pythias for more than 50 years.

Survivors include his children; son, David B. Shake of Sandborn, daughter, Deanna (Alan) R. Shake Callison of Elnora. He had four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson. He is also survived by one brother, Ted J. Shake of Warren.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Fred W. Shake and wife Dorothea.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m Saturday at Salem United Church of Christ in Westphalia, with Pastor Peter Bortz and Rev. Don Yegerlehner officiating. Interment will follow in the Salem United Church of Christ Cemetery in Westphalia, with military graveside rites.

Friends may call at Salem United Church of Christ in Westphalia, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, and from 9 a.m. until the hour of services on Saturday.

The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Salem United Church of Christ in Westphalia. Envelopes will be available at the church.
