Denzel T. Russell
VELPEN — Denzel T. Russell, 88, died at 7:50 a.m., Monday Eastgate Manor in Washington.
He was born on Aug. 31, 1921, in Pike County, to Charles and Mary (Collins) Russell. He was united in marriage to Lovenne “Bonnie” Houchin on Jan. 13, 1945, in Petersburg.
Denzel was a retired turkey farmer; started and sang with, for 22 years, the gospel band “The Adorations”; and for many years attended the Assembly of God Church in Washington where he taught Sunday school. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II.
He is survived by one sister, Allegra Farwick of Huntingburg; and by nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Lovenne “Bonnie” Russell, who died on March 20, 2008; and one brother, Pershing “Bert” Russell.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg, with burial to follow at Cup Creek Cemetery near Velpen. Tom Leighty and Terry Russell will officiate the funeral. The V.F.W. Post #2366 Memorial Detail will conduct military graveside rites.
Friends may call for visitation from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Noah “Nick” Graber, 75, went to be with the Lord at 12:22 a.m. Sunday at his residence surrounded by his family. Born May 31, 1935, in Daviess County, he was the son of Nicholas R. and Ida (Graber) Graber.

Helen B. Williams, 102, of Washington, went home to be with the Lord at 3:18 a.m. Sunday at Washington Nursing Center. Born Dec. 20, 1907, she was the daughter of William and Maude (Koontz) Miles.

Kenneth Wayne “Kenny” Roark, 67, died at 1:15 p.m. Thursday at his residence. Born Oct. 29, 1942, in Daviess County, he was the son of Ralph W. and Wanda F. (White) Roark.
