Patricia ‘Pat’ Wildman

MARTINSVILLE — Patricia L. “Pat” Wildman, 84, passed from this life Feb. 26 at Westside Garden Plaza in Indianapolis. She was born in Loogootee Aug. 27, 1928, to the late Delmar Vern and Doris Audrey (Cannon) Burress. She spent her childhood in Martin County and graduated valedictorian of her class in 1946 from Loogootee High School. Following high school, she attended Indiana University in Bloomington. On June 20, 1948, she married Forrest Lester “Skip” Wildman; he preceded her in death April 6, 2008. In the early 1950s, she and Forrest moved to Illinois where they remained until moving to Martinsville in 1964. She worked in retail at JCPenney in Martinsville throughout the late 1960s and early 1970s and later became the bookkeeper for Dalton’s Hardware and the Morgan County Public Library for many years to follow. In the early 1990s she retired from the library and began spending more time traveling and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events, just a couple of her favorite pastimes. She also enjoyed music, reading, watching sports and especially family get-togethers. She was a member of the Martinsville Chapter of Kappa Kappa Sigma and the First Christian Church. She was a former member of the First United Methodist Church in Martinsville. She will be missed and always remembered by her family and friends including her three daughters, Theresa (husband Steve) Cordes of Brownsburg, Cheryl (husband Galen) Dale of Mahomet, Ill., and Pam (husband Mark) James of Indianapolis; two sons, Mark (wife June) Wildman of Cloverdale and Drew (wife Denise) of Indianapolis; 12 grandchildren, Dashanna Rothhaas, Ashley Wildman, Tessa Defore, Lindy Cox, Kevin Dale, Amanda Dale, Jessica Shipp, Derek, Nicole and Kyle James, Ryan and Kristin Wildman; five great-grandchildren, Trevor and Raven Rothhaas, Elia and Nora Defore and Marshall Cox; and one sister, Kathy Hatfield of Evansville. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband of nearly 60 years, Forrest “Skip” Wildman; and one sister, Joyce Lavonne Frye. Family and friends are encouraged to visit from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday at Neal and Summers Funeral and Cremation Center in Martinsville. A service celebrating her life will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Nebo Memorial Park Mausoleum.
