WASHINGTON — Lena May (Wood) Clymer, 90, of Washington, went to be with the Lord after a brief illness March 3 and 4. Born May 7, 1922, in Washington, she was the daughter of John and Ophela (Peek) Wood. A 1941 graduate of Washington High School, she was a homemaker. She was affiliated with Bethel United Methodist Church. Lena, a full-time mother and housewife, devoted herself to family. She did work briefly on several occasions as part-time for friends when needed or to purchase Christmas and enjoyable items for the family. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, camping, mushroom hunting, and most anything outdoors. She is survived by a daughter, Sharon (Bob) Young of Chalmers; sons, Todd (Cindy) Clymer of Shoals, Billy Clymer of Washington, and John (Sherry) Clymer of Washington; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. Her husband, Clarence D. Clymer, whom she married March 19, 1943, died April 22, 1982. Two brothers, Claud and Luther Wood, and two sisters, Cleo Jean Fleetwood and Dorothy Lee Evans; and a niece, Gail Iazzetti, are also deceased. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Gill Chapel, with Pastor Tim Baxter officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery. Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and after 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Preferred memorials are to Disabled Veterans. Born Sept. 30, 1935, in Daviess, she was the daughter of Arlan V. and Essie (Hardesty) Nolley. She graduated from Montgomery High School in 1953 and retired as a bookkeeper from McDonald Chevrolet in Washington after 43 years of service. -
