WASHINGTON —
JASPER — Marie L. Hotz Meyer, 88, passed away at 8:23 p.m. Thursday at The Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper.
Born Feb. 3, 1924, in Martin County Marie was the daughter of Ermal and Emma (Yarnell) Porter.
She was a homemaker, member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Haysville, Jasper V.F.W. and American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Jasper. She is survived by three daughters, Charlotte (Douglas) Simmons of Plainville; Wanda (Daniel) Foster and Wilma Smuda, all of Washington; one son, Terry (Nancy) Hotz of Jasper; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a very dear friend, Oscar Neukam of Jasper.
She was married to Clifford Hotz, who preceded her in death in 1980. She then married George Meyer, who passed away in 1990.
She also is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Chester and Kenneth Porter; and two grandchildren, Danny Lee and Rebecca Anne Foster.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Trinity Springs Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Queen-Lee Funeral Home in Shoals.
