Edward Melton


JASPER — Edward L. Melton, 82, died at 8:25 p.m. Thursday at Northwood Retirement Home, Jasper.

He was born April 16, 1927, in Loogootee to Andrew and Agatha (Spaulding) Melton. He was a member of St. John Catholic Church, Loogootee, was an avid Harley Davidson motorcycle rider and he enjoyed fishing.

He was a lifelong trucker.

He married Tillie E. Berry and she preceded him in death.

He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Anita Melton, Loogootee; Joe and Margaret Melton, Jasper and Jim Melton of Loogootee; one daughter and son-in-law, Janette and Leland Lundy of Brazil.

Also surviving are two brothers, Frank Price Jr. of Washington and Richard Melton of Francisco and six sisters, Barbara Fleenor, Madison; Rita Lannan, Loogootee; Katherine Davis, Jasper; Linda Buchta, Jasper; Carol Wirth, Seymour and Rosemary Emily of Washington.

Eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren also survive.

Also preceding him in death were a brother and sister.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Brocksmith Funeral Home, Loogootee. Burial will follow in St. John Catholic Cemetery, Loogootee. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
