BLOOMINGTON — Robert “Bob” Cole Pennington, 52, formerly of Coal City, passed away unexpectedly Monday. He was born in Lebanon on Nov. 19, 1960, the son of Arvin “Frank” and Angela (Redmond) Pennington. Bob graduated from Owen Valley High School in 1979 and found joy in co-owning and operating May’s Greenhouse for the past eight years. Bob enjoyed helping his father and son on the farm and found joy in helping others. Bob enjoyed boating and camping when he was younger and looked forward to being a grandpa when he became older. Bob was preceded in death by his father and his nephew Mylin Dakota Pennington. He is survived by his mother, Angela Pennington; son and daughter-in-law, Nathan and Dessa Pennington; longtime friend and business partner, Ed Swango of Bloomington; siblings, Glenda Richmond (Pastor Larry) of Clay City, Dan Pennington (Sara) of Clay City, Jeff Pennington (Sherri) of Coal City and Paul Pennington (Tina) of Clay City; nieces and nephews, Wes (Whitney), Ryan (Ashley), Gus (De), Angie, Emilee, Ethan, J.T., Tyler (Katie), Jesse, Kameron, Chinoah (Caleb), and Lindcoya Fidler (Andrew); great-nephews and niece, Will, Jayden, Mason, and Leah; and a grandbaby on the way. Services will be at Beech Church Friday 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Beech Cemetery. Bob’s family will receive friends Thursday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Clay City First United Methodist Church fellowship hall and again Friday at Beech Church from 10 a.m. until time of services.
