John Lemon

WASHINGTON — John Eugene Lemon, 62, of Washington, died at 7:38 p.m. Monday. John has finally gone home to be with our Heavenly Father. After a long suffering illness and battle with cancer, he suffers no more. Born Nov. 15, 1950, he was the son of the late John William Lemon and the late Katherine I. (McDonald) Lemon. He leaves behind his wife Lea (Woods) Lemon, of 31 years; two sons, Joshua John Lemon and Christopher William Lemon; sisters, Patty Bowers, Vicki Simpson and Pamela Lemon; sister-in-law Julia A. Woods and brother-in-law David C. Woods. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews and some very close friends. He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Nick Bowers; nephews, Cole Bowers and Ryan Thurman; mother-in-law, Barbara A. Woods; brother-in-law, Richard F. Woods; and sister-in-law, Andrea Merrill. John served in the U.S. Army and fought in Vietnam. He retired from Crane in 2008. To know John was to love him. A great son, husband, father, brother, uncle and a true and loyal friend. He loved to hunt and fish and spend time at the river. He will be greatly missed by all who were blesed to have him in their life. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Washington. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, with military graveside rites by the Washington American Legion and V.F.W. Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Ed Lee Mortuary.
