MEXICO, Mo. — Rosa Alice Smith, 93, passed away Tuesday at her daughter’s home in Mexico, Mo. Rosa was born May 19, 1919, in Edwardsport, the daughter of Ulysses Grant and Florence (Godfrey) Donaldson. On Sept. 10, 1947, in Bruceville, she married Carl Edward Smith. He died in April 1983. Mrs. Smith was a member of the United Methodist Church in Edwardsport, where she was a member of the Women’s Group. She attended Southside Christian Church in Mexico. Rosa was a member of a Rebekah Lodge in Indiana and was an avid quilter. Survivors include her daughter, Gail Lankford and husband Paul of Mexico; two grandchildren, Rhonda McGannon and husband Mike of Ashland, Mo., and Tyler Lankford and wife MaCall of Hallsville, Mo.; and one great-grandchild, Charlie Luther McGannon. In addition to her husband, Rosa was preceded in death by two brothers, Otis and John Donaldson; and three sisters, Mary Strain, Etta Snyder and Millie Archer.
