WASHINGTON — Betty R. Birt, 85, of Washington, passed away Tuesday. She was born to the late William and Ruth (Smith) Hart of Odon. Betty attended Epsom High School and married Donald V. Birt on Nov. 18, 1950. She was an active member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church for many years. Betty was also a member of the Golden Rule Sunday School class, Homemaker’s Club and the church choir. She enjoyed spending time with her family, making crafts and playing cards. Survivors include two sons, Allan (Dana) Birt and Thomas (Keturah) Birt; four grandsons, Derek, Jeffrey, Aaron (Kelly), and Matthew Birt; two great-grandchlidren, Brooklyn and Benjamin Birt; two sisters, Margaret Dailey, Marilyn Scott; three brothers, Ray O. Hart, John T. Hart and Fred Hart; and several nieces and nephews. Betty is preceded in death by her loving husband, Donald V. Birt; one brother, Donald Hart; and two sisters, Beulah Nolting and Zelma Helderman. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Gill Funeral Home. A service will immediately follow.
