Daviess County was well represented this year in the Blue Chip South High School Bowling Conference. WHS won the conference championship with a 9-3 record, while Cornerstone Christian finished second with a record of 8-4. On the girls side of the conference, WHS slipped the last two weeks to finish second to Jasper. The Conference also includes Southridge, Forest Park, and NE Dubois High Schools.
Sophomore Jalen Hyde garnered individual awards for High Conference Game – 278, and High Conference (2-game) Series – 515 (257+258). Hyde and Junior Aaron Fitzpatrick were named to the All-Conference Team. Cornerstone’s Caleb Holland, a Senior, had the High Conference Average – 209.6 and was also voted All-Conference MVP. WHS Senior Jordan Hyde was named the girls All-Conference MVP.
Both squads from WHS advanced from the Sectional Tournament held Saturday (Jan 30) at Eastown Lanes in Jasper. Individually, Fitzpatrick, Hyde, and Freshman Nathan Sult finished 4th, 3rd, and 2nd respectively to advance to Regionals. Cornerstone’s Vince Shelton also advanced, as did WHS’s Jordan Hyde.
Team competition begins as 9 a.m. Feb 6 at Terre Haute Bowling Center. Individual competition will begin approximately 1:30. Competitors from Blue Chip North (Terre Haute area), Blue Chip South, Putnam County, Tri-County (Evansville area) and Indianapolis-South Sectionals will compete in the Terre Haute Regional.
