It was another close loss for Washington as Sullivan escaped the Hatchet House with a 49-47 win in the home opener for the Lady Hatchets on Friday.
After Washington (0-3) had battled back to take a 47-44 lead with 1:37 to play, it was Sullivan (2-0) who made the big plays down the stretch to secure the win. First, the Lady Arrows’ Joscelyn Mann followed a pair of free throws by Washington’s Mikala Barber with a 3-pointer to knot the score at 47-all with 1:19 to play. Following an exchange of turnovers, Washington’s Olivia Brashear missed on a short jumper in the lane with :19 to play.
