Monday
11:11 a.m. — An employee of Swifty’s, 409 W. Nat’l Hwy., reported a drive-off worth $30.35 in gas. A man from Crown Point said he was coming back to pay. At 12:05 p.m., he returned.
Sunday
9:35 p.m. — An employee of Daviess Community Hospital reported a female was in its ER with a cat bite she got at an apartment at 376S 100E. The cat’s shots were up to date but was put under quarantine.
9:16 p.m. — An employee of Daviess Community Hospital reported a 7-year-old boy was in its ER with a dog bite he incurred at 607 S.E. First St. The dog’s shots were not up to date and was put in quarrantine. Animal Control was contacted.
COUNTY REPORT
Sunday
6:32 p.m. — A caller reported two stolen mopeds at 3484 W. Nat’l Hwy., Lot 11. The mopeds were later located in the weeds by a neighbor’s house across the highway. One of the mopeds was damaged.
4:37 p.m. — A caller advised individuals in vehicles and on ATVs were disrupting the work on I-69 at E. Nat’l Hwy.
Friday
11:12 p.m. — A resident of Sugarland Road reported a group of males in a red car toilet-papered her house. Officers located the vehicle and advised state police were going to take the subjects to clean up the toilet paper.
5:59 p.m. — A minor fender bender was reported at Old U.S. 50 and CR 700E. No one was injured, and a field report was made.
11:42 a.m. — A property damage accident was reported at 2738S 1200E. The caller advised her son had the accident. There was no road blockage, and no one was injured. An officer was going to advise the property owner at the accident site that his fence was damaged.

Oct. 9
12:41 p.m. — Brian W. Hendrickson, 40, Boonville, was stopped in the eastbound lane of U.S. 50 attempting to turn left on Business U.S. 50 in a 2005 Kenworth dump truck registered to CK United Trucking Inc., Evansville. Loren J. Stutzman, 36, Montgomery, was approaching from behind in a 2005 Dodge Caravan and didn’t notice the truck was stopped until it was too late for him to stop. He swerved to avoid striking the truck, but caught the rear passenger side. No injuries were reported. Damage was estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.
Oct. 9
12:05 p.m. — James E. Carter, 34, Monticello, was eastbound on CR 500N in a 1999 International semi tractor with an empty hopper-type trailer when he crested a hill and, being unfamiliar with the area, didn’t realize there’s a stop sign at the base of the hill where CR 500N and SR 57 intersect. Carter was traveling too fast to stop safely, however he managed to jackknife the rig, which is registered to Barrett Family Enterprises LLC, Reynolds, before he got into cross traffic. Incapacitating damage to both tractor and trailer was estimated between $10,000 and $25,000.
Oct. 9
6:15 a.m. — Chris G. Grannan, 36, 510 N.W. Sixth St., was eastbound on W. Nat’l Hwy. near Clark Road in a 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS when a deer ran into the car’s path. Grannan swerved to miss the animal and traveled on the south side of the road into the ditch and hit a culvert. He continued east through the ditch into an embankment and hit a pole. Damage was estimated between $2,500 and $5,000.
ARRESTS
Travis Lamar Wagler, 36, Montgomery, was arrested by sheriff’s deputies Saturday for two counts of domestic battery and one count each of criminal mischief, public intoxication and residential entry. He was held at Daviess County Security Center on $10,500 bond.
Miranda Jo Grissom, 33, Washington, was arrested Saturday by sheriff’s deputies on a warrant for failure to appear. She was released on $2,000 bond.
Alan Wayne Smith, 24, Washington, was arrested by city police Friday on a warrant for petition to revoke a suspended sentence. He was released on $2,000 bond.
Autumn Dawn Baker, 34, Elnora, was arrested by sheriff’s deputies Friday on a warrant for petition to revoke a suspended sentence for operating a vehicle while intoxicated/refusal. She was released on $2,500 bond.
Damien Robert Cox, 34, Washington, was arrested Friday by sheriff’s deputies on a warrant for petition to revoke a suspended sentence for theft. He was released on $10,000 bond.
Robert Todd Huffmon, 30, Washington, was arrested Friday by city police for theft. He was released on $2,500 bond.
David Joseph Melichar, 18, Union Mills, was arrested by city police Friday for theft. He was held on $2,500 bond.

Jayton Colt Alexander, 19, Paoli, was arrested Friday by city police for inhaling toxic vapors, OVWI/controlled substance and theft/receiving stolen property. He was released on $6,500 bond.
