LOOGOOTEE — Cecilia Ann Nolley, 87, passed away at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Martin County Healthcare. Born Aug. 17, 1925, in Loogootee, she was the daughter of James L. and Clara (McCann) Arvin. A 1943 graduate of St. John Catholic School in Loogootee, she retired from Naval Surface Warfare Center Crane. She was a member of St. Martin Catholic Church and the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary in Loogootee. She enjoyed quilting as her pastime. She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Edward R. and Tina Nolley, Frank G. Nolley and Dennis and Gina Nolley, all of Loogootee; daughters and sons-in-law, Jane and Jerry Bowling of Montgomery, Karin and Jim Chandler of Loogootee, Rachel and David Burris of Sellersburg, Teresa Nolley, Sharon and Kevin Sutton, Donna Nolley, Helen and Clay Dearwester, Chris and Norman Bratton, all of Loogootee; 23 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. Her husband, Edward M. “Poppy” Nolley, whom she married June 5, 1948, died Dec. 30, 2011. She is also preceded in death by four sisters, Catherine Weisheit, Marie Walker, Martha Craney and Barbara Freeman; three brothers, Sylvester Arvin, John B. Arvin and Matthew Arvin; and one granddaughter, Candic Souerdike. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Martin Catholic Church, with Revs. Joseph Erbacher and Leo Kiesel as con-celebrants. Burial will be in St. Martin Cemetery. Visitation is from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, with a rosary at 5 p.m., at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Martin’s Cemetery, 408 Church St., Loogootee, IN 47553. Arrangements are being made through Ed Lee Mortuary.
