ODON — Samantha Elisabeth Porter, 17, passed away Saturday. Born March 10, 1995, in Belleville, Ill., she was the daughter of Bryan and Ginger (McRoberts) Porter. She was a senior at North Daviess High School where she was a four-year member of the cheer team, cross country, band, Red Cross, JUMP Club and Student Council. A two-year member of softball, jazz band and FCA, a one-year member of the science club and track. She was a member of the Cornettsville United Methodist Church, an eight-year member of 4-H, with her projects being cats, basket weaving and recycling. She worked for Lark Corn Maze and detasseled corn for Pioneer. Surviving relatives include her parents, Bryan and Ginger Porter of Odon; two brothers, Wesley Porter of Indianapolis and Shane Porter of Terre Haute; her paternal grandparents, Warren and Ruth Porter of Odon; and maternal grandmother, Betty McRoberts. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Joe McRoberts. The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the North Daviess High School gym, with Pastor Bill Talbott officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery in Odon. Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Simon J. Graber Building in Odon and after 3 p.m. Wednesday at the high school. In lieu of flowers the family wishes all donations be made to the Samantha Elisabeth Porter Scholarship Fund in care of Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield.
