WASHINGTON — Doris Boblitt, 88, of Washington, died at 4:45 a.m. Thursday at Eastgate Manor. Born April 3, 1924, in Loveland, Ohio, she was the daughter of Richard and Florence (Krebs) Harcourt. A homemaker, she was retired from 25th Street Elementary School cafeteria. She was a member of West Cross Street Alliance Church of Anderson and Mothers of Twins Club. She is survived by her children, Linda Miller, Donald P. Boblitt, David (Roberta) Boblitt, Lois Simonson, Lisa (Bill) Galipault, Leeann (Mark) Flora, Lora (Lee) Beck, and Loraine (Mark) Condrey; a sister, Phyllis Albright; a brother, Richard Harcourt; 20 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Her husband, Donald Lot Boblitt, whom she married March 3, 1944, died in 2003. One son-in-law, Ben Miller, and two sisters, Alberta Willingham and Marilyn Strassel, are also deceased. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Bethel Mennonite Church. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery. Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the church. Preferred memorial are to the church. WHS wins SeaPerch title
Washington’s SeaPerch teams took home gold at last Saturday’s national competitions at the IUPUI Natatorium.
The WHS NJROTC STEM team won first overall out of 100 teams competing at the national finals. The NJROTC team took first in the obstacle course and the deep water transfer portions of the competition, and received special recognition in the technical innovation.

IU still working towards sixth banner
Monday night in Atlanta, Louisville won the school’s first National Championship since the year I was born - 1986. This accomplishment is significant to Indiana basketball fans, because the last two times the Cardinals cut down the nets (1980, 1986), the Hoosiers did it the following year. The stat, of course means nothing, other than both schools had strong programs in the 1980s.
