WASHINGTON — Walter L. “Tence” Emmons, 73, of Washington, died at 9:51 p.m. Jan. 23 at Daviess Community Hospital. Born May 12, 1939, in Daviess County, he was the son of Herschel and Maggie (Doan) Emmons. He attended Washington schools and was a self-employed truck driver. He was an avid hunter. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Angela Emmons of Washington; a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Dean Hammack of Indianapolis; 12 grandchildren; his loving companion of the past 12 years, Peggy Ludwick of Washington; and sisters, Nettie Moore, Joyce Langham and Shirley Adams. He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Bob Emmons Sr. and Herschel Emmons Jr.; and one sister, Margaret Karout. A family service will be held at a later date.
