WASHINGTON — United Way Campaign Chair Dusty Davis announced Tuesday that 100 percent of the 2012 annual campaign goal of $200,000 has been met.
The United Way campaign supports 19 different social service agencies, other projects, coordinates the Day of Caring and works year round to meet the human needs in Daviess County.
“We owe a great debt of gratitude to the community-minded businesses and individuals who worked together to make this campaign a success. It would not have been possible without the many volunteers who solicited businesses in all parts of the county,” Davis said in a release.
United Way focuses on programs relating to education, financial stability, and health, the building blocks of a quality life. Recently the United Way of Daviess County received a $22,000 grant from the Indiana Association of United Ways to study ways to improve the graduation rate of students whose families are at poverty level.
This collaboration of educators, social service, volunteers and funders will make a profound difference in these childre‘s lives and create dynamic programs that will benefit everyone.
“Together we can make a significant difference in improving lives,” states Grant Swartzentruber, campaign vice chair. “We all win when a child achieves in school, or a life is turned around, or when families have good health and workers have solid jobs.”
