Plan Commission to meet

Area Briefs

WASHINGTON — The Washington Plan Commission will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, in Council Chambers, 200 Harned Ave. Items included on the agenda: discussion of I-69 with American Structurepoint; 2012 end of year report.

Odon library board to meet

The Board of Trustees of the Odon Winklepleck Public Library will meet at 5:45 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, at the library.

Cub Scout 447 fundraiser

North Daviess Cub Scout Pack 447 is holding a Little Caesar’s fundraiser to raise money for a trip to King’s Island this summer.

The group will be selling Little Caesar pizza kits, cookie dough and pie kits until March 22. Items range in price from $12 to $19 and contain the ingredients needed.

Women’s circle to meet Feb. 22

The Daviess County Community Foundation Women’s Giving Circle will host a Lunch N Learn on traveling. The event will be held in the Daviess Community Hospital Education Room on Feb. 22. A light lunch will be provided beginning at 11:30 a.m. and the program will begin promptly at noon and conclude at 1 p.m.

Presenters will be Bonnie Graham who will explain how to pack one suitcase for a two week trip; Elke Guratzsch on preparing to travel abroad including passport information; the Daviess County Health Dept. will discuss what vaccinations you need to travel abroad, what papers to carry with you when traveling and what you need to know in case you become ill while traveling; and CATO staff will show some ideas on clothes to take when traveling.

There is no cost to attend, as this is a service to the community funded by a grant from the Duke Energy Foundation. However reservations are required. Please call Deborah at the Daviess County Community Foundation office at 254-9354 on or before Tuesday to make your reservation.

Red Cross blood drive Friday

The Daviess County Chapter of the American Red Cross is sponsoring the following blood drives in February.

They include:

Friday, First Mennonite Church, 8002E 550N, Montgomery, 2:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Feb. 19, New Hope Christian Church, 559E 100S, Washington, 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Feb. 19, Perdue Farms, 65S 200W, Washington, (closed to the public), 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Feb. 21, EG & G Technical Services, 13923 E. Capt. WJ Nelson Dr., Odon, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Blood donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds, be in good health, and cannot have given blood in the past 56 days.

The Red Cross is especially low on Type O+ and O-, but all types are desperately needed.
