Daviess County Treasurer Martin Mumaw dies

WASHINGTON — Daviess County Treasurer and long-time county Republican Chairman Martin L. Mumaw III died on Wednesday afternoon at his home, according to sources close to Mumaw.

He had been diagnosed with terminal cancer and was at home with hospice care at the time of his death.

He announced his terminal illness to the public this past weekend.

In his news release for Saturday, he said:

“I want to thank everyone for the cards, notes, phone calls, offers of assistance, transportation, visits and prayers received during my illness. I have fought the good fight and am at peace with my diagnosis. I regret that I have been unable to acknowledge each and every show of support as I have battled this illness, but please know that it has all been greatly appreciated.

" I will miss visiting, working and fellowshipping with all of you, but look forward to the day when we are reunited.”

More details concerning arrangements and the reaction to his passing will be published in the Friday Times Herald.
