SUV stuck in high water on CR 150N

Police Report

WASHINGTON — CITY REPORT

Tuesday

2:40 a.m. - Vincennes Police Department advised they arrested a Jacob Ochs, and he was in possession of women’s jewelry. The officer wondered if WPD was working a case involving stolen items that matched the description of the ones in the subject’s possession.

2:17 a.m. - An officer made a traffic stop at N.W. 21st Street and McCormick Avenue on a 2002 Saturn registered to Juana Mora, 519 S.E. Sixth St. The driver, Aida Mora, 34, will be long formed for operator never licensed. The vehicle was towed and placed on hold for a licensed driver with proof of insurance.

Monday

5:39 p.m. - Shannon Willoughby, 610 Center St., reported there was a fire in her laundry room and it was out, but she requested someone from the fire department check and make sure everything was OK.

5:04 p.m. - Jennifer Lyn Joffee was stopped at SR 57 E. and Sunnyside Road. The vehicle she was driving was towed and placed on hold for proper registration, proof of insurance, licensed driver and owner. Joffee will be long formed for driving while suspended/prior.

11:48 a.m. - An employee of We Care Auto, 1001 N. SR 57, reported someone broke into their pop machine over the weekend and took all the cash. There was no damage to the machine.

9:09 a.m. - Brandon Jackman, 10 McCracken Dr., reported his 2010 Chevrolet Impala had been hit and there was damage to the front bumper and grill. He was unsure when or where it had happened.

8:42 a.m. - Karen Mattingly, 1307 State St., reported someone entered her unlocked 2004 Jeep Liberty and took a folder with personal information and money.

CITY ACCIDENTS

Thursday

10:55 a.m. - Tim J. Dant, 58, 705 Front St., was southbound on S.E. Third Street in his 2006 Dodge Charger approaching E. Nat’l Hwy. with a green light and right of way. Garrett R. Ashby, 18, 1624E 250S, was traveling east on E. Nat’l Hwy., approaching the intersection with S.E. Third Street in his 1986 Chevrolet pickup. Ashby had a red light but stated he didn’t see it in time because he was looking down, and the two vehicles collided. No injuries were reported. Damage was estimated between $5,000 and $10,000.

Jan. 8

8:53 p.m. - Reh Htay, 37, Indianapolis, was eastbound on Lincoln Street in a 1998 Dodge Intrepid and stopped at the intersection with Front Street. Lianne Wiscaver, 52, 7858 S. SR 257, was southbound on Front Street in her 2009 Nissan Murano when Htay pulled into her path and the vehicles collided.

Wiscaver complained of neck pain. Htay was given a breath test, which read .20 percent alcohol content. A certified test came back .16 percent BAC. He was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated and OVWI/endangering a person. Damage was estimated between $2,500 and $5,000.

Jan. 6

6:29 a.m. - Thomas E. Bailey III, 29, Linton, was southbound on SR 57 nearing Viola Avenue when a deer ran into the path of his 2010 Toyota Yaris and he couldn’t avoid striking it. Damage was estimated between $2,500 and $5,000.

COUNTY REPORT

Monday

11:35 a.m. - A caller said a Jeep was stuck in the water on CR 150N and a person was inside it. The road is impassable due to high water. The driver was able to get out of the water, but a wrecker had to be called to retrieve the SUV. A citation was issued to the driver.

COUNTY ACCIDENT

Jan. 8

12:44 p.m. - Kayla D. Yoder, 19, Loogootee, was driving south on CR 900E in a 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier, registered to Jerry and Sarah Yoder, when she looked away briefly. The vehicle crossed the roadway and went off the east side, striking a fence post and a utility pole before coming to rest. No injuries were reported. Damage was estimated between $2,500 and $5,000.

ARRESTS

Jeraldo Maroquin-Alonzo, 27, was arrested by city police Sunday for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and operating a vehicle while never receiving a license. He was being held at the Daviess County Security Center on $4,000 bond.

Kelly D. Quiggins, 42, Washington, was arrested by city police Sunday for resisting law enforcement, criminal confinement, intimidation with a deadly weapon and manufacturing methamphetamine within 1,000 feet of public housing. He was being held without bond.

Scotty Hall, 48, Evansville, was arrested by Daviess County Sheriff’s deputies Monday on a petition to revoke a suspended sentence for theft and a petition to revoke a suspended sentence for check deception. He was being held on $25,000 bond.

William Jonathon Messerli, 21, Washington was arrested by city police Monday on a writ of attachment. He was being held on $4,000 bond.
