WASHINGTON — Gloria Lou Talley, 84, of Washington, went to be with her Lord at 4:44 p.m. Sunday at Emerald House surrounded by her loving family. Born Aug. 1, 1928, in Daviess County, she was the daughter of George G. and Minnie Bell (Moore) Goble. She attended Washington schools and was a member of Free Methodist Church. She had worked at UniRoyal and NASCO. Later she was a matron at North Elementary School for many years. She was a member of Women of the Moose, American Legion Auxiliary, V.F.W. Auxiliary and Eastern Star. She enjoyed bowling and playing gin rummy. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She will be truly missed not only by her family and friends, but by her faithful dog Ming. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Joseph Meredith of St. John; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Marilyn Dyer of Washington; grandchildren, Rob and Brenda Dyer, Jason and Rene Meredith, Craig and Teresa Dyer, Matthew and Brenda Meredith, and Rustin and Katie Dyer; stepgrandchildren, Andrea and Shawn T. Gilley, Shawn D. and Brandyn Horrall, Tyler Gilley, Stephanie Gilley, Avery Gillery, Amelia Horrall and Elias Horrall; great-grandchildren, Katelynn Dyers, Lydia Dyer, Joycelyn Slawter, Jayden Meredith, Christopher Meredith, Joshua Meredith, Cole Dyer and Caroline Dyer; stepgreat-grandchildren, Haley Hagemeier, Zayin Hagemeier and Hayden Hagemeier; and great-great-grandson, Elijah Lucas. Her first husband, Clyde Eugene Dyer, whom she married Sept. 30, 1945, died Sept. 13, 1953. Her second husband, George L. Talley Jr., whom she married June 12, 1954, died June 29, 2008. Three sisters, Fern Miles, Ruth Thomas and Freda Geary; and three brothers, James Goble, Robert Goble and George Goble Jr., are also deceased The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Gill Chapel, with Revs. Bill Stotts and Wayne Neeley officiating. Burial will be in Sugarland Memory Gardens. Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and after 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Preferred memorials are to Free Methodist Church or Helping Hearts Hospice. Condolences may be made to the family online at www.gillsince1872.com
