Area briefs for Friday

INDOT to close SR 58 Monday

WASHINGTON — Hope House open on Saturday

Hope House, 704 W. Van Trees St., will be open from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday to give free food and clothing to anyone in need. Hope House is a ministry of Church on the Way.

WHS football yard sale Saturday

Washington Hatchet football players will hold a yard sale fundraiser from 7 a.m. to noon Saturday across from Chuckles on SR 57.

INDOT to close SR 58 Monday

The Indiana Department of Transportation announces that SR 58 will be closing west of Odon.

INDOT maintenance crews will be closing SR 58 from the junction of SR 358 to the junction of U.S. 231. Crews will be replacing a drainage pipe under the roadway at CR 550E, 1.2 miles east of SR 358. CR 550E will also be temporarily closed at the junction of SR 58 during the pipe replacement.

Work will begin on Monday at approximately 8 a.m. It is anticipated the roadway will re-open to traffic by the end of day on Friday, June 29, weather permitting.   

No through vehicle traffic will be allowed, however local residents will have access to the point of closure. All lanes of traffic will be closed at the structure. The official detour will follow SR 57, U.S. 50 and U.S. 231.

Pike school board meets Monday

Pike County School Corporation board will meet in executive session at 6 p.m. Monday.

DC Commissioners to meet Monday

Daviess County Commissioners will meet at 9 a.m. Monday in the Commissioners’ Room at the courthouse. Included on the agenda: presentation by Paul Goss on storm readiness.

Oak Grove seeks donations

Anyone wishing to make a donation for the care of Oak Grove Cemetery through the Friends of Oak Grove Cemetery can contact Julie Graham at fogc.washington@gmail.com.
