LOOGOOTEE — Mildred “Millie” Jones, 72, died at 8:50 a.m. Sunday at the home of her daughter, June Ryan. Born Nov. 14, 1939, in Martin County, she was the daughter of Samuel and Dolah (Haag) Lannan. She was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Loogootee, Knights of Columbus Auxiliary and V.F.W. Auxiliary. She retired from Sigeco (Vectren) and was a former Loogootee librarian and after retirement worked at the Lonely Night Salon in Crane. Millie enjoyed playing cards, watching birds and squirrels and spending time with her family. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, June and Joe Ryan and Janie and Gary Frye, all of Loogootee; one son and daughter-in-law, Phil and Susan Bender of Chicago, Ill.; three sisters, Rita Weaver of Loogootee, Lois Downey of Merit Island, Fla., and Kay Hughes of Georgia; three brothers, Joseph Merl Lannan of Gosport, Norbert Lannan of Ohio, and Mike Lannan of Linton; 15 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Her husband, John “Teak” Jones, whom she married Arpil 7, 1956, died Nov. 18, 2008. Her parents; one sister, Ruth Ann Lannan; and two brothers, Bernie and Hubert Lannan, are also deceased. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John Catholic Church in Loogootee. Burial will be in St. John Catholic Cemetery.
