John Coleman

WASHINGTON — John Henry Coleman, 49, of Washington, died at 9:39 p.m. Monday at his home.

Born Oct. 2, 1962, he was the son of Henry Herbert Coleman and Elinor (Tomey) Coleman Riggins.

A graduate of Washington High School, he worked at Olon Industries where he performed all positions and was a mechanic.

He attended Vincennes University for two years and attended Wesley Methodist Church. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting.

He is survived by his wife, Debra (Hall) Coleman, whom he married on Dec. 2, 1987; two sons, Tyler Coleman and Christopher Sean Burton, both of Washington; three daughters, Dionna Coleman, Stephanie Burton Myers and Jennifer Burton, all of Washington; four grandchildren; his mother, Elinor (Tomey) Coleman Riggins of Washington; three brothers, David Herbert Coleman of Mitchell, Mark Anthony Coleman of O’Fallon Ill., and Timothy Matthew Coleman of Washington; two sisters, Paula Scott of Vincennes and Pamela Kay Allison of Washington.

He was preceded in death by his father and stepfather, Richard Riggins.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Gill Chapel, Bro. Steve Dayton officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
