WASHINGTON —

There will be two public hearings at 6:30 p.m. Monday before the City Council meeting in Council Chambers, 200 Harned Ave. The first hearing will be on the 2013 budget and the second on the proposed eastside annexation.

The Council will meeting will follow. Items included on the agenda: reading of resolution the accept the Kiwanis Cabin as a gift; introduction of ordinance for appropriation and tax rate for 2012; presentation on annexation; question/answer session regarding NSP housing project; designation of night and time for trick-or-treating.

The Board of Public Works and Safety will meet following the Council meeting. Items included on the agenda: discussion/approval of claims and permits, request to close S.E. Second St. for German American Bank kids festival on Oct. 29, request from First Baptist Church to close street on Oct. 28 for harvest festival.

B-R board to meet

Barr-Reeve Board of School Trustees will meet in executive session at 7 p.m. Monday to discuss a job performance evaluation. The regular session will be at 8 p.m. Items on the agenda include: boys basketball coaches recommendation; fall break.

B-R dinner at Stop and Sea

The Barr-Reeve High School chorus will have a carry-out turkey dinner fundraiser on Sunday at Stop and Sea Restaurant in Montgomery from 11 a.m. to about 1:30 p.m. Cost is $6 per carry-out. The meal consists of marinated turkey strips, green beans, Stop and Sea potato salad and bread. Desserts will be available for a donation. All proceeds will go to the Barr-Reeve High School chorus.

RTL paper        drive today

The Daviess and Martin County Right to Life paper and aluminum can drive is set for Saturday.

Drop off papers or cans at the main location at the old Kmart parking lot in Washington, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Other pick up points around the county including St. Peter’s school in Montgomery, Ray Truelove’s residence in Cannelburg, Mallet’s Service Station in Plainville, Odon United Methodist Church (place papers in shelter house behind church), Elnora Christian Church and Martin County Recycling Center in Loogootee, are open from 9 a.m. to noon.

County Council to meet

Daviess County Council will meet at 9 a.m. Wednesday in the Commissioners’ Room at the courthouse. Items included on the agenda: Business 50 intersection relocation; 2013 council schedule; Purdue Extension; requests for additional appropriations; requests for transfer of funds.

City offices closed

All city offices and departments will be closed Monday in observance of Columbus Day. There will be no trash pickup and the city bus will not be in operation. The recycling center will also be closed. Residents with trash pickup on Monday are asked to have their trash ready for pick up by 7 a.m. Tuesday. If you have any questions, call the Street Department at 254-4564.

Boil order issued by DCRW

Daviess County Rural Water System has issued a precautionary water boil advisory for those customers on U.S. 50 east of CR 900E.

Plainville trash pick up Tuesday

Due to the landfill being closed Monday, the Town of Plainville will pick up trash on Tuesday, Oct. 9.
