ORLEANS — Class A. No. 3 Barr-Reeve picked up a quality road win on Saturday, defeating No. 12 Orleans, 51-39 at Orleans.
The Vikings (3-0) left the first half tied to the Bulldogs (2-1) at 17, but Barr-Reeve rolled off a 14-7 third quarter. Five Vikings scored during the quarter, led Addison Wagler with four points.
Addison Wagler led Barr-Reeve with 15 points on the night. Logan James went 6-7 from the free throw line, tallying 10 points. Micah Bullock scored 9 points, while Brandon Wagler had six points.
Orleans was led by Cole Hall with 12 points and Jarett Jones with 10.
The Vikings will host Tecumseh at Kavanaugh Kourt on Friday.
WC loses BCC opener
DUBOIS - Washington Catholic lost their Blue Chip Conference opener on the road to Northeast Dubois on Saturday, 75-30.
The Jeeps (1-1, 1-0 Blue Chip) used a 28-11 second quarter to seal the win as the Cardinals (1-2, 0-1 Blue Chip) registered 18 turnovers in the loss.
The Cardinals were led by Brian Brown with 12 points. TJ Hill scored eight points and Colton Reed had six points.
Northeast Dubois was led by Bryce Huebner with 25 points. Cameron Riecker scored 12 and Matt Betz chipped in 10 points.
Washington Catholic hosts another Blue Chip foe in Vincennes Rivet at the Birdcage on Friday.
ND girls rout Eminence
EMINENCE - North Daviess moved to 6-1 with a road win over Eminence, 60-13 on Saturday.
Meghan Knepp led the Cougars with 21 points while Sabra Smith had 18 points. Brooke Moore chipped in six while Maggie Swartzentruber scored five points.
North Daviess is back on the road today as they face SWIAC foe North Central at Farmersburg. Thursday, the Cougars travel down to Kavanaugh Kourt for the Lady Buggy Bowl with Class A No. 4 Barr-Reeve.
WJHS boys 7th splits pair
Washington’s 7th grade boys team split a pair of games at home Saturday, losing to Castle North before defeating Mount Vernon.
In the 58-17 loss to Castle, Billy Fleetwood led the Hatchets with four points, Cameron Osmon and Michael Deaves has three points and Evan Frances and Marcus Thorne scored two points.
The Hatchets defeated Mount Vernon later that day, 48-35. Thorne led Washington with 17 points and Frances scored 12 points. Osmon had eight points, Gage Latham had six points, and Billy Fleetwood scored five points.
