WASHINGTON —

CITY REPORT

Friday

10:11 a.m. — Kevin Walker, 404 W. Flora St., reported someone threw a rock through a windshield of a parked vehicle.

Thursday

11:33 p.m. — Chase Bagens reported a fire on W. Greenbriar Drive.

5:03 p.m. — Anita Boyd said her purse was stolen while at the Carnegie Public Library, 300 W. Main St. Money and identification was taken.

COUNTY REPORT

Thursday

9:15 a.m. – A caller advised the pop machines in front of the liquor store on U.S. 50 in Montgomery had been vandalized.

COUNTY ACCIDENTS

Thursday

1:45 p.m. – Joseph E. Harper Jr., 34, Bicknell, was westbound on CR 900S approaching Sugar Creek bridge, east of CR 1000E, in a 1997 Chrysler Concorde registered to D and S Ambulance Service, Vincennes. As he was preparing to cross the one-lane bridge he noticed an unknown vehicle approaching from the opposite direction at a high rate of speed. Harper stated he had to veer right to avoid hitting the other vehicle, which caused the vehicle he was driving to strike the concrete bridge. No injuries were reported. Damage was estimated between $2,500 and $5,000.

Wednesday

6:37 p.m. – Bradley D. Wagler, 19, Loogootee, was eastbound on E. Nat’l Hwy. driving a 2003 Dodge Stratus registered to Delmar and Linda Wagler. He was behind a 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix driven by Christian M. Wittmer, 17, Montgomery, and registered to Delmar and Linda Wittmer.

Wittmer stated that the vehicle in front of him had slowed down to turn left into a driveway, so he started to slow down. Wagler said he didn’t notice Wittmer was slowing down and could not avoid a rear-end collision. No injuries were reported at the scene. Damage was estimated between $5,000 and $10,000.

ARRESTS

Lewis Marlin, 43, Washington, was arrested Tuesday by city police for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and intimidation. He was held at the Daviess County Security Center on $500 bond.

James Brittain, 40, Indianapolis, was arrested by sheriff’s deputies Tuesday on a warrant for failure to appear for check deception and petition to revoke for theft. He was held on $2,750 bond.
