Road hearing on Thursday

WASHINGTON — There will be a public hearing at 6 p.m. Thursday in Council Chambers, 200 Harned Ave., on the proposed relocation of the intersection of U.S. 50 and East National Hwy.

VU presents Cabaret on Friday

The Vincennes University Music Department will present A Cabaret: Concert of Broadway Music at 7 p.m. Friday at VUÕs Red Skelton Performing Arts Center in the theatre lab.  Students from VU and some local high schools will perform, along with VU faculty members.

The concert is a fundraiser to help cover expenses for the performers to travel to New York City in April to participate in a workshop presentation of a new musical.  There will be no charge for admission but a free-will offering will be collected.

Library events

for February

The Washington Carnegie Public Library invites area youth to participate in the following free programs. Please call the library at 254-4586 to register.

Lapsit Rhyme Time on Feb. 7, 14, and 21 from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. for 6 -18 month olds with a caregiver. Early literacy will begin with songs, rhymes and stories. 

Toddler Time for 2-3 year olds and their caregivers on Feb. 1, 8, and 15 from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Different weekly themes and stories will help lay the foundation for early literacy skills with lots of fun activities.

Lego Fun on Feb. 7 from 4:15 p.m. to 5 p.m. for elementary age children 6 years and older. Build, create and have fun with a special visit from Sparky. Registration not required for this program.
