WASHINGTON — Thomas Earl Dodson, 88, of Washington, died at 4:40 a.m. Tuesday at Eastgate Manor. Born April 3, 1924, in Washington, he was the son of Charles Walter and Erma Naveda (Potts) Dodson. He attended Washington schools and was a U.S. Army veteran. A retired factory supervisor at Superior Steel Ball, he was a member of Trinity Gospel Tabernacle. He enjoyed going to church and bowling. He is survived by a daughter, Diana Dodson of Washington. His wife, Marceline H. Dodson, whom he married Oct. 30, 1947, died Dec. 13, 2010. He is also preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Ann Hudson. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Gill Chapel, with Pastor Chad Hunting officiating. Burial will be in Sugarland Memory Gardens. Visitation is from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Preferred memorials are to the Alzheimer’s Association. This accomplishment is significant to Indiana basketball fans, because the last two times the Cardinals cut down the nets (1980, 1986), the Hoosiers did it the following year.
