Roy ‘Blackie’ Davis

ODON — Roy Lee “Blackie” Davis, 68, of Washington, passed away at 1:08 p.m. Wednesday at his residence. Born Aug. 26, 1943, in Washington, he was the son of Roy A. and Charlotte (Eskew) Davis. He attended Washington High School and was owner and operator of R.L. Davis and Daughters Trucking. He also had worked for Lar No Trucking and O and A Construction. He was a member of Petersburg Moose Lodge and Washington Sons of the V.F.W. He is survived by three daughters, Monica (Dewey) Brown of Brownsburg, Barb Stovall of New Albany, and Crystal (Doug) Wade of Linton; daughter/granddaughter, Jessica (Rick) Baxter of Washington; grandchildren, Ashley Stovall, Amber (Craig) Robbins, Draven Butcher, Mya Butcher and Hayden Wade; five great-grandchildren; his ex-wife and mother of his children, Joy Davis of Washington; one sister, Paula Bingham; one brother, Phillip Davis; and special friend and companion, Rene Howard of Washington. He was preceded in death by his parents. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Ed Lee Mortuary, with Pastor Clarence Miller officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery. Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family, c/o Ed Lee Mortuary, 101 N. Meridian St., Washington, IN 47501.
