The Washington volleyball team swept Wood Memorial in three games (25-17, 25-10, 25-21) Tuesday at the Hatchet House. The Hatchets got 13 assists from Amber Taylor, two aces and eight digs from Araina Fidler. Rachel Chattin added 22 kills, Megan Arnold and Emily Sullender had two blocks apiece.
Vikings win Boonville
BOONVILLE — The Barr-Reeve volleyball team went 4-0 Saturday on their way to winning the Boonville Tournament.
The Vikings defeated Evansville Mater Dei two games to one (26-24, 22-25, 26-22). Jenna Knepp had 22 assists and six kills, Hannah Bullock and Hania Sisco added 11 kills a piece. In their second match of the day, Barr-Reeve defeated Mt. Carmel in consecutive games 25-16, 25-19. Knepp led the Vikings to victory with nine kills and 12 assists. In the third match of the day, the Vikings beat Northview two games to one (16-25, 25-22, 27-25). Knepp once again led the Vikings with 22 assists, Knepp, Molly Wallace and Tanisha Graber added six points a piece. Hania Sisco added nine kills. The Vikings finished up play Saturday with a two-game victory against host Boonville in the tournament championship game 25-20, 25-22. Knepp once again led the Vikings with 14 assists. Hannah Bullock added nine points and seven kills.
Vikings defeat Paoli
MONTGOMERY —Class A No. 1 Barr-Reeve Vikings (28-2) defeated Paoli in three consecutive games (25-20, 25-16, 25-15) Monday to improve their record to 28-2. The Vikings got 24 assists and seven points from Jenna Knepp. Tiara Kenney added 12 points and 12 kills. The Vikings junior varsity team (19-3) defeated Paoli 25-10, 25-19.
Barr-Reeve stays undefeated
MONTGOMERY — The seventh and eighth grade Barr-Reeve volleyball teams stayed undefeated with wins against Northeast Dubois Tuesday. The eighth grade (17-0) won 25-20, 25-14, while getting a team-leading 12 serves from Macin Graber. The seventh grade (14-0) also won in two games (25-12, 25-17). Bailey Graber led the team in serves with 22.
Rees dedication is Sunday
Washington Catholic will hold a dedication service at the Doyle-Palmer Athletic Pavilion at 1 p.m. Sunday.
The Rees Field pavilion contains a concession stand, covered patio area, restroom facilities and a storage garage.
Members of the Washington Catholic community and the Rose and Thomas Doyle Sr., and Ernestine and Thomas Palmer families contributed to the project.

IU still working towards sixth banner
Monday night in Atlanta, Louisville won the school’s first National Championship since the year I was born - 1986. This accomplishment is significant to Indiana basketball fans, because the last two times the Cardinals cut down the nets (1980, 1986), the Hoosiers did it the following year. The stat, of course means nothing, other than both schools had strong programs in the 1980s.
